Hi! Sorry for the short dissappearing stint. I’ve been busy, though. And I have lots of beautiful pictures, updates and good news for you guys. =D First, I’ve started knitting the Apricot Jacket a couple of days before the arrival of 2008. It was during the holidays and I had quite a wee bit of time working on it. I’m working the body in one piece and currently, the left front is done. Now I just have to get around finishing the top part of the back and right front. Oh, and the sleeves too. I’m knitting it using the Rowan All Seasons Cotton Melange in Military from my stash. (stash busting! Hah!) I decided to use ASC because I saw a couple of Ravelers did theirs in ASC as well. My ASC had been marinating in the stash for far too long, anyway. No pic of my Apricot Jacket, but soon!
I did a full list of 10 resolutions for this year. The knitting related one is: Knit from stash. This means the yarn diet had been lifted, but I will still knit from the stash more.
Heres the fabulous news: I dyed silk! Remember I was gushing about Giselle not too long ago? Well, the yarn I ordered had arrived and I’ve bought the pattern. I planned to dye silk yarn myself, partially because I’ve never dyed silk before and that it is definitely something I want to try out before I die.

The one on the left is the contrast color while the one on the right is the main color.

The main color – A bright teal overdyed with black.

The contrast color – a muted purple overdyed with black.

A knitted swatch. I had to go down on the needle sizes. I’m not sure what was the size of that needle I used. I misplaced my needle gauge tool. Like I did my tapestry needle. That was the ?th needle I misplaced? Anyway, the gauge tool will come out. It always does. I hope.
And now for the good news: I will be adding new yarns to TSY really soon! 100% silk and DK wool. This time round, you can choose what color you would like, then I will dye it. Much more personalized colors! Yay! =D
What beautiful colors! I can’t wait to see the project develop.
Kessa, the colours are so rich and glamorous, you’re so good at dyeing!
Good choice of contrasting colors! Can’t wait to see the new yarns at TSY!
Silk is so lovely! I got some sent to me from my secret pal… The colours you dyed them are beautiful! Hope your needle checker comes out of hidding and that your needle comes out to play but not by hurting anyone first. Happy New Year!
*drools*
So pretty!!! Pity I’m on a super yarn diet! T.T
The dyed yarns are beautiful! Was it hard to dye silk?
